Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces high-quality semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease and lightly flour four ramekins.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and chocolate together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Allow it to cool slightly.
  3. Stir in the powdered sugar until well combined.
  4. Whisk in the eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract.
  5. Fold in the flour and salt until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins.
  7. Bake for 12-14 minutes until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  8. Remove from the oven and let them cool for a minute. Then, run a knife around the edges to loosen the cakes and invert them onto serving plates.
  9. Serve immediately, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
